These simple tips could cut your annual metered water and sewerage bill by up to 18% and help you to save up to 29 litres of water per person per day.

Tip 1 - turn off the tap

You can save up to 18 litres a day by turning off the tap when brushing your teeth, washing or shaving.

A running tap can use nine litres of water per minute.

Turn off the tap when brushing

    Tip 2: take shorter showers

If you shower for four minutes, you can save up to 10 litres a day

On average a shower uses 10 litres of water a minute - showering adds up to 25% of your daily water use.

    Tip 3: flush less often

If you only flush the toilet when you need to, you can save up to seven litres a day.
